Great value for money! Very, very comfortable beds (we chose the kingsize).Very friendly+helpful staff. Good location: quiet, but easy distance to shops+sights and safe neighbourhood. Close to subway+bus. Small rooms, but everything you need if you don't spend much time in your hotel.
No airconditioning! At least not in our room, nor did we see any indication that they had rooms with AC. We opened the windows and that made it cool enough (even at 33 degrees C) but it was May. Also this made it necesary to cover ourselves in mosquito repelent.
I enjoyed he friendliness of the hotel staff. The wireless internet was excellent and the I enjoyed the breakfast at the hotel restaurant.
The location was a bit incovenient for me. I had to walk back to the hotel during the evening - most of the time- 5-6 blocks that were a bit spooky, kinda dark- But, the location is not bad.
Early, reliable wakeup call & airport transfer 150 pesos.
Very good value, close to the Zocalo (15min walk) and the transportations, lots of little restaurants and bars in the neighbourhood, and the room was very nice, huge bed, very clean and quite
The staff was not particularly cheerful and had us used one of their tai which was way too expensive
The guy at the reception was very kind and friendly. Even if I arrived early in the morning he let me check in immediately. Thank you!
The room was big and clean, king size bed, clean shower and bathroom. Very good value for money.
Location is not in the center but still close enough for a walk / metro. Hotel's restaurant is not really good...
The rooms really look the same as on the pictures, so no "bad surprise". They were very clean and modern.
It is not very close to the metro station or to walk in the city, but still ok and doable. Fair value for the price.
Strange shower configuration with water running out on to the floor of the bathroom. Also a safety issue with all that water running out on to the bathroom floor.
The location of Hotel San Diego is excellent if you want to explore Mexico City. Near Balderas Metro as well as two other metro stations. Close to Bellas Artes and the walking street Madero, and not far away from what I call "Mariachi Square" (Garibaldi, with lots of Mariachi). And actually not very far from Zona Rosa either. Friendly & helpful staff/front desk. Most of them don't speak English, but Juan, who works there, solves this problem. Quiet in the night, but during the day the street outside (Luis Moya) is crazy. Free parking next to the hotel. Note that Mastercard/Visa doesn't work, but according to Mastercard that's a general problem in all of Mexico. I strongly recommend this hotel and will stay here the next time I'm in Mexico City.
The hotel doesn't have air condition, but even to me who prefer low temp at night this didn't present any problem since the nights were pretty cold anyway. The beds are not soft.
Good location, good price... Only two step from subway and only 15 minutes by walk from Zocalo. Big room, good staff
They don't speak english so much...
Room ok, King size bed Good, Proximity of city center, Good price. Luggage looker waiting for aircraft.
The location of the hotel was great as it was close to the Historic center. Easy walking distance and included parking.
The hotel was on a lean which meant that the room sloped and it was hard to stay on the side of the bed you started in. Cleaning staff were very noisy in the morning, but that may have been because we were next to their work room. If staying here ask for a room away from the street and away for the cleaners areas.
Great to have a king size bed! Place was great overall, good deal for the money and the staff were helpful. Online pictures did not do the place justice - it was more attractive. Across the road from Best Western (triple the price) so safety of the area is good, even if there is not much to do in the immediate vicinity. Two 24 hour stores open on same block for sundries etc. 7 minute walk to Alameda, 15 minute to Zocalo and under 5 to the two Metro stops. Would return.
In a party location - so quite loud on some nights. The hotel is sloped - something like the leaning tower - which is not uncommon in Mexico City. The automatic lights go on every time you go to the bathroom so you end up potentially waking everyone in the room!
The hotel is located near the Balderas station which allows you to grab a train to go anywhere in the city.
The location is somewhat sketchy, but if you are used to inner-city life, it should pose no problem.
The location was good, near to the Alameda and to the metro. The bed was very comfortable, and the water was always hot for a shower. The restaurant was pleasant with a good selection at reasonable prices. The bar a few doors down was lots of fun, with great music. The neighborhood at night can be a bit dark and dodgy, but I was fine with a flashlight.
I asked the hotel to call me a taxi when I left, and the 'hotel taxi' was there, so I used him. The hotel had told me 130 pesos (which seemed pretty high to me but I did not know the distance to the autobus station) and of course the driver told me 140 pesos. I think with a 'normal' taxi, if the hotel had just called one, the price would have been much lower, as the station was only 20-25 minutes away. I paid the driver his 140 pesos, as I would have tipped him anyway, but I resent the whole procedure. Ripping off the tourist is too common..... I should have demanded a 'normal' taxi and I will from now on.
